He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Oneida. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and ANNA KEETON PENNINGTON.; In addition to his parents, he was preceded also in death by one son, WILLIAM ARTHUR PENNINGTON; and three brothers, HAROLD, JIM and CLIFTON. He was a member of the Scott Co; Retired Teacher's Association, and was a licensed insurance representative.He was a member of Paint Rock Baptist Church, a member of DAV, and served in World War II. PHILLIPS of the Cherry Fork community; three sons: CLENDON PHILLIPS and wife, ERNESENE; STEVE PHILLIPS and wife, SHARON, both of the Cherry Fork community; and HAROLD PHILLIPS and wife, JUDY, of the Paint Rock community; one daughter, VIRGIE LITTLE of the Cherry Fork community; two sisters: DORA HARRIS and husband, RICHARD of Kentucky, and GERTIE WHITE and husband, CHARLES, of Knoxville, Tenn.; one brother, O. OWEN and wife, HELEN, of Oneida, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives. He is survived by his wife, LOTTIE PHILLIPS of the Pine Hill community; one daughter, JOANN BOND and husband, RALPH of Oneida; two grandchildren, one sister, PAULINE DUNCAN of Oneida; four sisters-in-law: TEAMY WEST, ROSIE CROSS, ELSIE PEMBERTON, and CHRISTINE WEST, all of Oneida; one brother-in-law, DEXTER WEST, also of Oneida; several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives. West-Murley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. and Sam Pierce of Maryland; three grandchildren, Angelia M. Trent Pierce, both of Maryland, Claudia and husband, Don Morley of Virginia; great-grandsons, Philip and Tyler Morley; brother and sister-in-law, Clyde J. He was born in Helenwood on February 5, 1917, and was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, GENETTA HONEYCUTT PHILLIPS; one son, JAMES RONALD PHILLIPS of Oneida; one grandson, JAMES ANTHONY PHILLIPS of Kentucky. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. In addition to his parents, he was preceded also in death by one sister and brother-in-law, DESSIE and POLET SILCOX; one son-in-law, KENNETH B.Funeral service was conducted August 29, 1998, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Rev. and Sue Phillips of Maryville; sisters, Mae Reynolds and Fay Sharp, both of Knoxville. Survivors include his wife, DARLENE COLE PATTERSON; his mother, ROSE ELLA ABBOT PATTERSON; three sons, THOMAS ENOS PATTERSON and JASON EARL PATTERSON of Pine Hill, and HANK WILLIAM PATTERSON of Mountain View; two grandchildren, JUSTIN KYLE PATTERSON and BRIANNA SHANTEL SEXTON; three brothers, JAMES PATTERSON of Pine Hill, WILLIAM PATTERSON of Winfield, and JOSEPH PATTERSON and wife JEAN of Indiana; three sisters, ELIZABETH ELLIS and husband CLIFTON of the Buffalo community, FLOSSIE KING of Robbins, and FAYE PATTERSON of Pine Hill; and a number of nieces and nephews, and friends. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Dennis Wayne Pennington. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from to p.m. PENNINGTON, OLLIE – age 93, of the Smith Creek Community, passed away Wednesday, October 5, at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Knoxville, following a lingering illness.
